Many Philippine laws are barely known to, much less understood by, the public at large. This should not really come as a surprise because the study and practice of law, like many other professions, has always involved highly specialized knowledge. Then there is the jargon, which can be somewhat confusing and even intimidating to non-lawyers. Last, but not least, are the lawyers themselves who, despite the best of intentions, may at times fail to properly or adequately explain – or perhaps more accurately to simplify – legal concepts to non-lawyers. The Philippine Lawyer (TPL) is a website (www.thephilippinelawyer.com) which seeks to publish relevant, timely and useful information about various topics on Philippine law. Its objective is to make such topics understandable, relatable and practical to non-lawyers. It will also plans to publish books and various materials covering specific legal topics.

As an initial step, TPL will launch a groundbreaking book on Philippine immigration law and practice on 1 October 2018. This book, entitled Philippine Visas and Work Permits: A Quick Guide to Philippine Immigration, is authored by Atty. Dennis Joseph D. Judan, the Managing Partner of Judan Law Offices. The book seeks to fill a big need in this legal practice area for clear, concise and useful information. The book can be purchased online through the TPL website. A one-month preorder campaign, starting on 1 September 2018, will precede the book launch. During this period, the book will be offered at a substantial discount.

The TPL website is managed by two (2) law firms, Judan Law Offices and Tibon-Judan and Tan Law Offices. Those who may require actual legal services in the Philippines may contact these law firms and avail of their services directly from the TPL website. It is hoped that other like-minded Philippine lawyers and law firms will eventually contribute their knowledge and expertise to the TPL website on a regular basis so that the public may benefit from a broad range of legal materials.
